What is Hypnosis and How Does It Work?

Hypnosis, often shrouded in mystery and misconceptions, is a fascinating psychological tool that has gained recognition as a valuable method used by celebrities, politicians, artists, athletes, and business people for various purposes, including stress relief, success, weight loss and habit change. Understanding what hypnosis is and how it works is the first step in appreciating its potential for busy and overweight businesswomen looking to achieve their health and weight loss goals efficiently.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of deep relaxation with focused attention and heightened suggestibility. Hypnosis is very natural to us because we get automatically in a hypnotic state almost every day. In a hypnotic state, individuals become more receptive to suggestions and are more open to changing thought patterns, behaviors, poor habits, and beliefs. Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is not a form of mind control but a collaborative process between a trained hypnotherapist and the individual. In order to make an educated decision it’s important to understand the perks as well as the downsides.

How Does Hypnosis Work?

Typical hypnosis uses a state of relaxation where the client is literally ‘absent’ and can’t consciously hear the therapist’s commands and react to. In that hypnotic state the therapist gives certain commands like not wanting to eat certain foods.

The way I use hypnosis (SSF Hypnosis) is helping my clients to get in a deep relaxation state where they can still hear me and communicate back to me. In that state we reach into their subconscious to spot the root causes of their weight issues. Through guided meditation I then lead my clients through a process where the root causes can be transformed and no longer have an effect.

Hypnosis is effective because it taps into the power of the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind governs automatic behaviors, emotions, and deeply ingrained thought patterns. By accessing the subconscious, hypnosis can help individuals reprogram these patterns and establish healthier, more constructive beliefs and behaviors.

In hypnotherapy, hypnosis is just one part of the method. It starts by identifying potential root causes of the client’s specific issue and designing a positive alternative scenario to the current problem. During the hypnosis process, we delve into the root of the problem, transform it, and replace it with the desired behavior, pattern, habit, or situation, all with the consent of the client.

The Connection between Hypnosis, Weight Loss, Habit Change, and Time-Saving

For busy and overweight businesswomen, time is a precious commodity. Traditional approaches to weight loss and habit change often require a significant time commitment, including planning and preparing healthier meals, engaging in regular exercise, and attending therapy or counseling sessions.

The biggest problem about the old way of weight loss is that the poor habits will always get in the client’s way. Just by getting on a diet, you don’t change your habits. They’re on autopilot and will always come back after you have really uprooted them. Hypnosis offers a time-saving alternative that can deliver remarkable results fast, often effortless, and maintainably and also replacing poor habits with slimming ones. Here’s how:

  1. Efficient Behavior Modification:

Hypnosis can efficiently target the underlying behaviors and thought patterns that contribute to weight gain and unhealthy habits. In a hypnotic state, individuals can rapidly adopt new beliefs and behaviors, making it easier to break free from self-destructive habits and replace them with healthier ones.

  1. Stress Reduction:

Busy women often experience high levels of stress, which can lead to stress eating and weight gain. Hypnosis is an effective stress-reduction tool. By addressing the root causes of stress and promoting relaxation, it can help women manage their stress in a healthy way, reducing the reliance on comfort eating.

  1. Mindful Eating:

Hypnosis encourages mindful eating, allowing busy women to make better food choices without the need for time-consuming meal planning and calorie counting. By taking care of the root of emotional eating and transforming it, the client no longer feels a desire for emotional eating.

  1. Targeted Focus:

Hypnosis provides targeted focus on specific issues, allowing women to address their unique challenges. Whether it’s sugar cravings, emotional eating, or a lack of motivation to exercise, psychological problems, trauma and abuse, etc, hypnosis can be tailored to address these specific obstacles efficiently.

  1. Long-Term Results:

One of the significant advantages of hypnosis is its potential for long-term results. Unlike crash diets or quick fixes, hypnosis focuses on sustainable behavior change. Once new habits are established at the subconscious level, they tend to persist over time, reducing the need for constant effort and attention. Thus, weight loss often becomes a positive side effect while we are taking care of deep rooted issues and problems.

Empowering Busy and Overweight Businesswomen

Hypnosis empowers busy and overweight businesswomen to take control of their health and wellness efficiently. By efficiently modifying behaviors, reducing stress, promoting mindful eating, and delivering long-lasting results, hypnosis offers a time-saving solution that perfectly aligns with your hectic schedules. It allows you to reclaim your health without sacrificing precious time, ultimately helping you achieve your weight loss and habit change goals while still excelling in your professional lives.

In conclusion I can say that the way I use hypnosis is the fastest, easiest, most powerful, most effortless, and most sustainable weight loss method I have ever seen in my 40-year career as a body-mind-spirit weight transformation coach.

If you want to read about a case study where I used my personal form of hypnotherapy, please read the blog post about Giselle.

Hypnosis is an ancient method that has been used by inventors (Leonardo da Vince), politicians, artists, and high executive business peopls. I was pleasantly surprised how many modern-time celebrities used hypnosis for their career, to lose weight and to get rid of some poor habits. For your entertainment, here is a list of a few famous people who used hypnosis.

  • Debra Messing
  • Mark Knopfler
  • Matt Damon
  • Drew Barrymore
  • Ellen DeGeneres
  • Ben Affleck
  • Ashton Kutcher
  • Adele (she used hypnosis to lose weight)
  • Charlize Theron
  • Sylvester Stallone
  • Aaron Eckhart
  • Kevin Costner
  • Jackie Kennedy Onassisused hypnotherapy to overcome and let go of traumatic events in her life.
  • Reese Witherspoon
  • and many more

I don’t think that any of these people would ever have used hypnosis if it would have harmed them. These people simply can’t afford to take any risks. There is too much at stake for them. They all admit openly that they have used hypnosis and they have never regretted that step.

Case Study Giselle: From a life in ruin on all levels to having it all

Case Study Giselle: From a life in ruin on all levels to having it all

Three months ago Giselle (56 years) contacted me because her massage therapist recommende me to her. After a short communication on the phone she decided to sign up for my one-on-one coaching. I soon realized that she was going to be one of my hardest cases in my entire coaching career. At the beginning she has been a very difficult person, she would not listen to what I said and constantly interrupted me. “That is going to be a tough year for me” I thought. Back then I had no idea that she would become one of my strongest cases studies within the matter of months.

On the very first coaching call she brought up all her problems at once and it was a real challenge to dig through the clutter and to choose the most pressing issue to begin with. She had pretty much all the problems you can have: deep depression; financially broke; unemployed; she had no idea what kind of job she wanted – all she knew was that she no longer wanted to work as a nurse; she had no more energy left and has gained a lot of weight (close to being obese); a daily almost crippling head ache; in a relationship she was deeply unhappy with; having been abused by her father; an extremely dominant mother who thought that Giselle was not capable of accomplishing anything and thus made all the decisions for her and even took over the job of raising her child.

All men in her life were bossy, treated her like a child, and dominated her. Besides her mother and sister, also her girlfriends always told her what she had to do and not to do. Everyone in her life seemed to know better what was good and right for her than she knew herself. Needless to say that her self-esteem was non-existent. She felt like a big, fat failure and told me that she no longer wanted to live that way. Her entire life was a real disaster and every part of her life was in ruins. I was certain that we would have to spend between one and two years together in order to address all these issues.

That was three months ago.

For the first two months it seemed as she was making almost no progress. She constantly sabotaged the action steps – she either didn’t do them or did them in another way than I explained it to her.

The first thing that happened was that she became emotionally free from her dominant mother and her abusive father. That was really a big one.

After some job interviews she realized that she no longer wanted a job and put an add in the newspaper offering her service as a caretaker for elderly people. Within only a few days she got two great engagements and now she is her own boss, deciding how much her work is worth and making the price. Now she earns more money than she has ever earned before as a nurse and has not to work any night shifts anymore.

Then she had a longer phone call with her daughter and their relationship began to improve.

On the other side, the relationship with her boyfriend began to briddle very quickly and soon she realized that she was no longer emotionally attached to him. He doesn’t fit in her life anymore because she no longer needs a father figure (he is 26 years older than Giselle). When I told her that this would open herself up for a new and better relationship she instantly refused and said that she was done with men and that she didn’t want another man in her life anymore. One day her boyfriend called her “baby” as he always does. Without thinking or giving it a second thought, Giselle was bursting out, “I’m not a baby, I’m a lady!” That was the first time we got a glimpse of her real inner strength. From that moment things started moving very fast.

Then, suddenly her health improved dramatically. Whereas she would be in bed all day long and sleep 12 hours every night before, she suddenly had more energy and started making changes in her apartment and shifting things around. Her brain fog was gone, her memory improved and she could better concentrate. Now she could do a better job with her clients and has more stamina.

She began to be more careful about when and how much she would allow her bossy sister and girlfriends into her life and what she would tolerate from them. She learned to say ‘No’. For the first time in her life she could set boundaries and clearly say what is tolerable and what is not.

In other words, she has been cleaning out and decluttering her entire life.

During all that time we never did anything regarding her weight and she never weighed. She occasionally complained about her weight and I kept reassuring her that her body was taking care of the weight itself. And it has. Three weeks ago she told me that she had lost several kilograms and since then she is constantly losing weight.

Two weeks ago she met a lovely man who is 10 years younger than Giselle – the kind of man she always wanted and was certain he would not exist. They both fell in love with each other and both feel that the other one is just the “one”, the partner they have always been looking for and dreamed of  but never found before. Very quickly they realized that everything fits. Beside the fastly growing love, they have many common interests, he treats her with the respect she deserves, and they have the best sex life ever. They both feel that they have arrived.

And – ladies, listen well now – he said that she doesn’t need to lose weight because he loves her the way she looks like.

Does this all sound too good to be true to you? I would have thought so three months ago. If this was your first thought, then maybe life has not been very friendly to you in the past. Maybe you have given up believing in miracles. I have seen such life stories among my clients over and over. This time I’m just surprised myself how fast this all came together and how fast Giselle could move from a life in ruins to having it all. During our 13th coaching session she told me that she no  longer needs my coaching and she said, “I finally have the life I always wanted!”

Now seriously, how could this happen?

Do you remember my personal story when I lost 58 pounds within a few months effortlessly without dieting or doing anything about my weight, started a new career, having the priviledge to work with over 10,000 individuals in my coaching career and fulfilling my life purpose?

All this happened after I transformed my traumatic childhood experiences, learned to set healthy boundaries and literally decluttered my old life. In other words, I removed the root causes which had led to my weight problems. In my own life as well as in Giselle’s, it also meant to let go of a relationship which was not good for me.

In Giselle’s case, I did nothing else but helping her to transform her personal root causes which had led to weight gain. We never did anything regarding her weight at all. She always loved cooking and she is still enjoying it and has no food restrictions except those foods she is allergic to. What we did do for the sake of her health is eliminating a few bad habits.

Extra weight is nothing else but a signal – a warning sign – that there is something in your life that got out of balance

Since your body has no voice, it has to communicate with you in its own language, and the body’s language is SYMPTOMS. Your body communicates with you through symptoms. Once you understand what your body is trying to tell you, listen to its voice and make the necessary changes – i.e. letting go of rotten relationships, setting healthy boundaries, transforming traumatic life experiences, etc. – your body has no longer a reason to keep talking to you through extra weight. As soon as the effective root causes have been eliminated or transformed, your body can take care of the fat burning process. The symptom is no longer needed. Now the body can stop the ‘nagging’ and yelling.

Root causes can be found on the physical level (e.g. food intolerances, diabetes, toxic overload, etc.), the emotional level (how you emotionally respond to circumstances and the world around you), the mental level (your mindset, your way of thinking, what you say, your belief system), the psychological level (your memories, your subconscious mind, past experiences, unhealthy boundaries, etc.), and even on the spiritual level (karma, stuck energy, etc.). They can be experienced in relationships with the opposite sex and the family, in your professional life, in your health or the lack of it, and whether or not your life is interesting, fulfilling and well balanced or not.

You are a whole being and you can’t be cut in pieces or slices. Your happiness comes with a life well balanced on all pillars. Unfortunately that’s exactly what the diet industry and the gastric surgeons do with you, the only look at the symptoms and not at the root causes. They never ask WHY you eat too much, WHY you eat the wrong food, WHY you don’t like to exercise, or WHY you feel hungry all the time. They don’t look at the WHY – the root causes. All they do is trying to remove the symptom, the warning signal. And once they have done that, they don’t care about the rest and leave you alone with all your troubles and issues. They don’t care because they can’t, they don’t have the right answers.

Another reason why my method is working so well, fast and effortlessly is because it is based on natural laws, the laws of the universe. These are laws which are true for everything and everyone. They are non-negotiable. If you jump off a 20-story house, you don’t fall upwards; you fall down and you’ll be dead. That’s non-negotiable. if you saw carrots, you will not harvest onions; you will harvest carrots for sure. That is non-negotiable. When you are a person who constantly thinks negatively, there is no way that you can attract something positive; you will attract more negativity, disease and disaster into your life. That is non-negotiable.

When you adhere to the laws of the universe, you will reap positive things in ALL aspects of your life. It doesn’t matter whether you want to lose weight, find a better paid job, find a new love, gain better health or achieve any goal, the way to approach these goals is always the same. Just follow the laws of nature and you will manifest all these things into your life because when you do that, literally your whole life is going to improve. You can’t cut your being and your life in slices and pieces either. On the other hand you can not go on a diet and by doing so find a better job, find a new love, improve your health and lose weight all at the same time and with that same tactic. The reason is because diets are not only not based on the laws of nature, they are flat out a violation of the laws of your body. Our body reacts conversely to diets than we want and consequently we ‘reap’ the yo-yo effect.

One of these natural laws is that the pendulum swings as far to the left side as it moves to the right side. Translated to Giselle’s situation: the worse her old life was, the more the pendulum had to swing to the other side and bring her a life of good and happiness, because she uprooted the causes and changed her thinking.

Another natural law is that the more time, energy and effort you put into a goal, the more you will get out.

Right now I have ONE single spot open for one-on-one coaching over the phone. If you want to transform your weight…if you are serious about losing your weight in a healthy and maintainable way…and if you are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal, then you can send me an email and let me know that you are ready to work with me. In a free consultation over the phone I will explain you the options you can choose from. That is non-binding and you can either take my offer or leave it. Once that one spot will be filled, you can get on my waiting list.

In the meantime:

Happy slimming!

* Disclaimer: these results are not typical. How fast a client experiences positive results entirely depends on how committed she is and what action steps she takes.

What is THE fastest way of losing weight?

What is THE fastest way of losing weight?

Why can people overeat with unhealthy food for decades, live the life of a coach potatoe, neglect their body, be in total denial regarding their psychology, and then expect to lose all that gained weight within only a few weeks?

Honestly, I don’t really have an answer to that question because I simply don’t understand such a lack of logical thinking. Of course, I do get that human beings are impatient and want to reach their goals ASAP once they have made a decision. But the gap between logic and the goal to lose weight fast is very, very big, especially with the diet approach.

One of the biggest issues is that people can’t distinguish between marketing messages and the truth. We have been told a million times that we can lose weight within seven to ten days. Plus, we are increasingly living in a world where we get everything at the push of a button. On thop ot that – to be totally fair – it’s a known fact that the current cell phone and WiFi technology shortens people’s attention span dramatically what leads to even worse impatience.

But where in all that is our common sense?

Well, maybe it’s just time to look at different weight loss methods to check which one is THE fastest.

Dieting

Since I have talked about the diet approach many times, I want to make this short. Dieting is against the body’s own nature and therefore can’t work long term. Going on a diet can give you some short term results but the weight will come back after a while. Depending on how many diets you have been trying or will choose to try, the constant up and down usually goes on for years and the person will eventually come to a point where she will resignate and give up all weight loss attempts.

So, although at the beginning you sometimes can lose weight quite quickly, what do you win at the end with yo-yo dieting?

Nothing!

By losing and gaining and losing and gaining you are not only jeopardizing your health, waste your precisouls life and make it more and more impossible for your body to lose extra fat.

Honestly, what is fast about that?

Exercise

Exercise alone has never been a fast tactic. Although exercise should always be part of a sensible weight loss strategy, it’s far from being fast nor maintainable. You can jog for an hour every day and 365 days and you may not even lose a pound. Believe me, I did it and that was the results. Zero weight loss.

And if you lose some weight and then stop exercising when you’ll get sick or older, you will gain the weight back.

Diet Pills

Like with any diet, at the beginning you may lose a lot of weight very quickly. But after a while you will gain it back because you didn’t take your body’s nature into consideration. You can’t fool your body.

Your body does not only know what you know. It also knows what you don’t know. Your body knows exactly what it needs to do to lose extra fat. But as long as you are interfering with diets and calorie reduction, you are forcing your body to go its own way, and it will do that because your body’s first job is to safe your life.

Therefore you can really say that your body has more common sense than you have….should you ever choose to take diet pills.

Since you will gain the lost weight back and even more, you can’t consider this to be a FAST method.

Gastric Surgery

In my humble opinion this is the most stupid way of losing weight, and any doctor who offers that kind of surgeries should be put in jail for a long time. Gastric surgery is slow murder.

No doubt, you can lose weight very quickly. But the price is very high. After such a surgery you will be sick for the rest of your life and there is very little you can eat. In other words, you are literally starving to death….slowly and surely. And not only that, after a few years you are going to gain that weight back.

So how is that FAST?

Liposuction

At first sight I would consider this to be the fastest method of losing weight.

But here too we have to take the body’s nature into consideration. Your body’s two main reasons for accumulating fat is acid and toxins. It creates fat when either of them increase to a level where it becomes dangerous for the body. In a loving attempt to safe your life, your body creates fat cells to store toxins and acid away in the safest possible way.

When you remove that fat, your body gets literally flooded with toxins and acid. And what would you do if you were your body? Create new fat. That’s one part.

The second part is that liposuction destroys part of the lymphs. This will create a new problem you probably didn’t have before. As soon as your lymphatic system doesn’t work properly anymore, you get lymph edemas, swollen legs and arms. Yes, it’s “just” water, but when you’re overweight, do you really care whether you have to get rid of fat or water? When the lymphatic system doesn’t work properly anymore, you will need compression stockings for the rest of your life. I’m not sure if you can call this a good solution.

Again, at the end of the day you can’t call this really “fast”.

Hypnoses

Hypnoses is a great method and I personally use several kinds of hypnoses in my coaching and therapy practice.

Hypnoses works partiularely well for compulsive eating and to suppress appetite.

The problem is that hypnoses alone is not a reliable problem solver as long as you don’t know the real, underlaying issues. Hypnoses alone therefore is not a reliable method….it can take months and years. But if you can find a weight loss coach who combines several methods and who can help you find the real physical and psychological causes, this can be a great solution. Depending on how much time it takes to address the real causes, weight loss can happen quite fast.

*****************************************************************

Psychotherapy

As a behavioral therapist I do believe in psychology. And in almost 40 years of my personal weight loss story and by working with over 10,000 individuals I can say with absolute certainty that 80% of a maintainable weight loss process is about the psychology.

But…there is a big “BUT”.

Psychotherapy is not fast. Traditional psychotherapy is about talking, talking, talking, and this can go on for years, even decades.

Yes, like I said, 80% is about the psychology. That should give you a realistic picture about a solid weight loss process. But there are also physical causes, emotional causes, even spiritual causes. A psychologist seldom understands all of them. I have met many psychologists who are even far from understanding all of the possible psychological issues that come with weight gain, especially if they never had to go through a weight loss process themselves. Those I know look at the issue soleley from the eating perspective too and why people overeat.

Although you may have a good chance for maintainable results, especially when the cause is the eating, it’s far from being “fast”.

Healthy Lifestyle

Although a healthy lifestyle ABSOLUTELY has to be part of a maintainable weight loss strategy, by itself it’s not a fast method and very often not even a lasting solution. The healthy lifestyle approach looks at weight issues exclusively from the physical standpoint and that’s never enough to make losing weight to last. Inner causes will not be transformed.

Therefore, maintainable only if the issue is the lifestyle and nothing else. Fast? Never.

The old way of losing weight

This is how most women go about losing weight. They go on a diet. Then when they realize that it doesn’t work, they quit. Some time later they try another method and fail again. They go from method to method and at the end they have to give up because they are desillusioned or have given up completely.

The New Way Of Losing Weight – 4 Pillars of Weight Loss

You may have heard me say that so far I have found 58 possible causes of weight gain. These causes can be physical ones (eating, lack of movement, hormones, high acidity levels, etc.), emotional ones, it can be the mindset (and the mindset is most of the time a huge contributing factor), and the unconscious. Again, 80% of the problem is the psychology, the part of the iceberg that is beneath the surface. But most known weight loss methods work only with the 20% of the visible part of the iceberg.

Thanks to decades of my own weight struggles and thanks to working with over 10,000 individuals I have been so fortunate to gain a completely different understanding of maintainable weight loss. I have spent over a decade of searching for other individuals with the same knowledge, hoping that I could give them my clients and enjoy my retirement. But to this day I only found one man who got close to what I know, but he can’t cover it all himself and works with a team of several experts. And he is still quite far from the truth, especially when it comes to female weight issues.

My 4 Pillar system takes the whole person, the whole being into consideration. We are body, mind AND spirit. We can’t solve a problem just on the physical level by ignoring the other parts of our beings.

Generally, everything you do on the physical level can lead to fast weight loss. But then you also want to keep the weight off. So what you do on the mental, emotional and unconscious level is the kind of transformation work you need to make your weight loss last. It’s an overall transformation process needed here.

So here at the Natural Weight Loss Academy we always work on all levels combined. The main focus is to find and address an individual’s  cause or causes. That’s why you can’t just offer one solution and hope to fix them all. A sensible, maintainable weight loss process is always individualized. And since we work on all levels, we can exclude the yo-yoing most of the time, unless an individual cheats and is on a diet without telling me.

So minus the yo-yoing, and by securing that the weight loss will last, you can honestly say that this is THE fastest way of losing weight for women (for men it’s easier any way, so we are only talking about women here). Depending on the weight a woman starts the process at and depending on her seriousness and commitment, it can take anything between three months and three years. The heavier a woman is, the longer it will take, of course.

Let me share two examples.

Example 1

One of my current clients – let’s call her Jessica – joined my Facebook tribe four weeks ago. She jumped in both feet and took action on all the daily action steps right away. Not all the steps were easy for her – that’s normal – but she always discussed things with me. She never said, “I can’t.” Instead, she always asked, “What can I do with this problem?”

During the first two weeks nothing happened. She just went through the process and trusted the process. In week 3 she suddenly lost 5 pounds and 6 inches. This was during Thanksgiving week and she ate anything she wanted, even dessert. The only thing she did was watching her psychology and enjoying the family gatherings.

Two of Jessica’s most outstanding characteristics are her commitment to lose weight and be healthy, and her consistency in going through the process. She started at day 1 and never missed any of the daily action steps, no matter how small or silly they seemed to her.

Example 2

Another client of mine – Ruth – went through my SheSlimEasy program 5 years ago and lost weight nicely. I emphasized that she should make sure to stay on the path and later move forward on the SheSlimForever process to make her weight loss maintainable. Recently she joined my Facebook tribe and admitted that she could only keep her weight by dieting and regular cleansing. In other words, she completely ignored the psychological part, the 80% of the process. And not only that, she lost everything she had accomplished five years ago and now has to start all over again.

Ruth has always been kind of reluctant, the opposite of Jessica. She was afraid of her emotions and of bursting into tears when working with me. That was proof to me that one of her major causes of weight issues is the way she is dealing with emotions. Unfortunately she didn’t understand that every tear she cried while going through the transformation process with me means losing weight for her.

During a one-on-one session over the phone with me she began to realize that she can’t block the process emotionally and still hope to achieve lasting weight loss. So she decided to trust the  process. As a result, within only one hour of coaching she could solve and transform several issues.

Working with the 4 Levels

Just in case that you feel overwhelmed by the 58 possible causes, my system includes figuring out each client’s effective causes very quickly.

Of course, if you are trying to do it by yourself, it may take years. Please keep in mind, that we all have our black spots. No psychologist can do it by herself/himself. It would literally take centuries. But maybe you are the exception.

Or you can work through your psychological issues with your psychologist. I’m sure you will make some great progress, but the question is how long it will take.

If you are at the point where you realize the benefits of my 4 pillars of lasting weight loss, you have two options:

1.) Workshops or group coachings

2.) One-on-one coaching sessions

Both possibilities are very valuable. The group setting is very interesting because you see the struggles of other women and you also get a lot of encouragement from the other members. The downside is that it may take longer because I have to work with several individuals at the same time.

If you need to lose weight fast and if you have the means, then the one-on-one coaching setting is certainly the best choice.

Of course, a big contributing factor to your weight loss progress and success is your willingness to open up and be willing to work through the processes. If you bring that to the table, we can transform each of your effective causes within one to five sessions, depending on the intensity of the issue.

These are the steps of my 4 pillars of lasting weight loss:

Step 1: Habit Transformation (SheSlimEasy)

Step 2: Detox & Cleansing (SheSlimFast)

Step 3: Weight Loss Mindset (SheSlimSmart)

Step 4: Transformation of the Inner Causes (SheSlimForever)

Maybe, by now you are getting a pretty clear understanding of the effectiveness of my 4 Pillar process.

Conclusion

Changing your diet may bring you a step ahead.

Following a fitness program may bring you a step ahead.

Thinking positive may bring you two steps ahead.

Going through the 4 Levels and eliminating the real causes is entirely different ball game. It’s a transformation process. It does not only get two or three steps ahead….it brings you right to the top of your goal. And not only that, at the same time it can improve your relationships, it can reduce your stress levels, it can improve your professional life, and it definitely will  improve your health and longevity.

Finding the REAL causes of weight gain and eliminating or transforming them makes the body fat obsolete. As soon as we understand our body’s message and solve the problem, the body has no longer a need to hold on to the extra fat and can burn it almost instantly.

Since I don’t work with diets, there is hardly any bouncing unless it’s about the normal hormonal cycle. Therefore, we can honestly say that working on all four levels of the human being is THE fastest weight loss method because it is maintainable.

At the beginning it may take a while for the body to realize what’s going on. But once the process gains some momentum, weight loss can be fast and effortless. Very often, my clients don’t even realize that they have lost weight because they are feeling good despite of the weight and stopped weighing.

Now I have to leave it up to you to make a decision for yourself. Do you want your weight loss to be hard or smart? Do you want to keep yo-yo dieting or do you want to put an end to it? Do you want to go from diet to diet or do you choose a more effortless way?

The choise is yours and yours alone.

One Simple Trick for Setting & Achieving Your Weight Loss Goal Successfully

One Simple Trick for Setting & Achieving Your Weight Loss Goal Successfully

So many overweight women are struggling with their weight…unnecessarily hard and long because they have the wrong mindset regarding weight loss. They don’t take the time factor into consideration.

In our mind we can lose weight effortlessly and almost instantly. But the body needs more time to achieve such a goal.

I know there are peers of mine out there who are brainwashing you with the idea that you can lose weight quickly. They show you images of other people who lost weight and tell you that they lost x amount of weight in x amount of time. Those numbers then stick in your head as a “fact”. They are in your brain and you begin to believe – consciously or subconsciously – that you can lose the exact same weight in exact the same time. To your brain, such a before/after picture is PROOF that the method works. And that’s exactly the big mistake and a lie either these “experts” are telling you or a lie you are telling yourself out of wishful thinking.

But that never happens.

People then often reach to drastic tactics to get the promised quick results such as diet pills, liposuction and the very dangerous gastric surgeries and thus make matters worse. All these are quick fixes but they don’t solve the real problem.

3 Reasons Why You Should Learn to Set Realistic Goals

First of all, each person’s body is differently with different needs and problems. Although we all have basically the same kind of body, we are different in many ways. Some bodies need more time for digestion, others have a slow metabolism, still others have some hormonal challenges, some have different enzymes for digestion, others need more time to burn fat during exercising…and so on.

That’s why it’s very dangerous to hear about people who have lost 10 pounds in 10 days, for example. These numbers get into your brain and subconscious mind and will stick there. You then automatically begin to compare yourself with those people whose success story you have read or heard. This then becomes your unconscious “ceiling”. You simply can’t think beyond those numbers anymore and you can’t push through that glass ceiling anymore. It’s set in your system like a thermostat of your heating system.

Secondly, it took time for your body to accumulate that fat…most of the time we are talking about years and decades of fat accumulation. The longer you are carrying around some extra weight, the harder it will be for your body to reverse it and the more time it will require. The body needed time to create that fat and it will need time to burn it. The results you can get through weight loss diets are never realistic. You will lose a lot of water and maybe even some fat, but if you don’t change the cause, both that water and fat will come back, often quicker than you have lost it.

Thirdly, your current weight is another number that sticks to your subconscious mind and whenever you go on a diet, your subconscious mind will do everything to get back to that number. It’s like with your air conditioner. When you set it to a certain degree, the system will constantly adjust the temperature. When it gets warmer than you chose, the system will cool down; when the room gets colder, the system will heat up. It’s the same with your weight because your body doesn’t understand that you want to get rid of that extra weight and it will always bounce back unless you eliminate the real causes.

For all these reasons it’s very important that you set realistic goals. Before we come to that, I want to briefly share with you what happens on your psychological level when you don’t get these promised quick results.

The Consequences of Setting Unrealistic Goals

At the beginning you have big hopes and you’re all hyped up. Then, when you gain the weight back or don’t lose as much as you had been promised, you lose hope. Losing hope is a very dangerous thing and quickly leads to depression what creates another downward spiral.

Then, of course, you blame yourself or beat yourself up. After all, those other women accomplished their goals and the “expert” promised that you can achieve the same. Ergo, it must be your fault. And you can back up that logic with the fact that there were situations when you didn’t stick a 100% to the program. Again, ergo it must be your fault.

After a while, you then begin to lose faith in yourself. You just don’t seem to be able to achieve a goal…you don’t trust yourself anymore. So since you can’t achieve that one simple weight loss goal, maybe you’re too stupid to achieve other goals. Right? (I know how harshly women can talk to themselves.) Again, a negative downward spiral begins.

Then kicks in self-pity. Since you “failed” in your understanding, then you probably don’t deserve to be slim, healthy and beautiful. You are doomed to stay overweight for the rest of your miserable life. In other words, you have given up.

Before you even think about setting a new weight loss goal, I highly recommend to reverse that process: give up self-pity, gain back faith in yourself (no, you can’t wait until you will finally achieve your weight loss goal, you have to have faith in yourself first), stop self-blame and gain back your hope. There are sustainable solutions. You just have to allow that mindset shift to happen.

And here is a crucial point about hope.

You have to STOP hoping for OUTSIDE answers.

*****************************************************************

As long as you put your hope in diets, the next disappointment is inevitable.

Stop searching on the outside.

80% of your weight loss success is an INSIDE job.

Of course, you can hire a coach for that process and most likely you’ll have to. Yet you still have to go through the process. There is just no short cut. The answers are within you.

Set Realistic Goals

Then set a REALISTIC goal. Choose how much weight you want to lose and then leave it up to your body how much time it will need to accomplish that desired goal. Your body might surprise you and you can lose that weight much faster than you thought. And there is also a 50% chance that your body may need more time than you think. When you choose a time frame within which you want to shed those pounds, disappointment is certain. You then will lose hope, be disappointed and frustrated and your brain will add another failure to your already existing pattern.

Adding a time to your weight loss goal is not realistic because at this point you can’t know what really forced your body to accumulate fat in the first place. It can very well be that the real, underlying cause goes years back or that it is something you never thought about. For example, if the cause is a hormonal imbalance, it can take years to balance that back.

What I recommend to my clients is to ALWAYS give themselves at least one entire year, no matter how little weight they want to lose. Remember, lasting weight loss is to 80% an inside job.

If you are obese, then it would be more realistic to give yourself two or three years. The fat burning process can be much faster than that, but if I understand you correctly, you want to lose your extra weight for GOOD and not just temporarily. In other words, you want to make sure that all aspects that lead to your weight gain in the first place will be removed from your entire system: body, mind and spirit, especially from your subconscious mind.

Therefore, the by leaps and bounds fastest way is by keeping away from the diet approach, by setting realistic goals and by giving yourself enough time.

Just think about. What is fast about losing and gaining and losing and gaining? Many overweight women go on like that for over a decade. That’s neither fast nor quick nor sustainable. That is no weight loss at all, because at the end of the day you haven’t lost anything. You’re just a year older and back to your old size…or even a size bigger.

It is truly my hope that you begin to understand why going for the quick fixes is a shot in your own foot.

Therefore my friend, patience is one of the first attributes you will need for your maintainable weight loss success. We are talking about a long-term goal here. We are not talking about a few weeks or months, we are talking about your healthy LIFE….a maintainable healthy lifestyle you can easily follow through with for the rest of your life without starving and without stress.

Learn to set realistic goals!

It’s crucial for your weight loss success.

When is it a Good Idea to Hire a Weight Loss Coach?

Recently, a young man, whose parents were coaching clients of mine 30 years ago, contacted me on Facebook. He told me that what his parents had learned from me was often a subject at their table and that my words had led his parents through many difficult life situations. I hear this increasingly even from clients I haven’t seen in 10, 20 or 30 years, which made me think.

My coaching “career” started as a child when adults told me their most personal and private problems and sorrows. In the end, they were often shocked when they realized how much they had told a child of only 10. Their explanation was always that I was such a good listener.

My official coaching career started in 1978 after I realized that being a teacher for children was not my life purpose, but I did enjoy being a teacher for adults (happy parents = happy children). Yet, I never really thought that my work was important; helpful, yes, but not important, like having food or earning money. I had no idea how wrong I was. My clients came for a few sessions, solved their problems or achieved their goals and then I never saw them again. That was the reason why I began to believe that my work was only helpful but not important. But when I realized how long my clients could go with the principles I taught them a mindset shift happened in me.

Soon after I started my life coaching business in 1984, I got hired by two different women’s magazines to run regular weight loss courses for their readers. And because women told their husbands about what they had learned in my courses, soon after, I was hired by the Swiss Teacher’s Association and by several European Fortune 500 companies to coach their middle and upper management. One of the major Swiss insurance companies hired me on a monthly basis to coach their sales representatives. Companies paid $7,000 a day for my services, which was more than $1,200 per working hour. And there is a good reason for that: coaching helped their managers and salespeople to become more successful in their profession and in life – their management gained more self-confidence, which enabled them to bring more of themselves into the workplace and got healthier what saved the company a lot of money. I have heard many stories of how my coaching has helped teachers to make their students better students and solve their problems on several levels; parent to be better parents with less stress; and entrepreneurs to be more successful. At some point, I  realized that for many people, my services were as important as food and built the foundation of their successful profession and a better and more fulfilling life.

Not only my clients benefited but also their families. One client, who attended one of my weight loss courses, taught her husband my principles, which prevented him from losing his job. Parents taught their children how to deal with stress and to become more successful in life. Many of the over 10,000 people that have followed my courses and group coaching improved their health significantly, lost weight, and achieved major goals that seemed to be out of their reach. Others found and realized their life purpose and are now making a difference in other people’s lives as well. Frankly, only by writing this down and formulating it out did I begin to see the real benefit of my work (we baby boomer women often tend to be too modest about our work). Things we are naturally good at we often don’t perceive as special or important because to us it’s so normal.

“You can give a poor man a fish to feed him for a day,

or you can teach him to catch fish and feed him for life.”

Since so many business people (mainly businessmen) are telling me how important hiring one or even several coaches is important for their lives, health, and professional success, I decided to look at the topic more closely. I was surprised how much evidence exists on the benefits of coaching. Numerous people report that coaching positively impacted their careers as well as their health and personal lives.

Benefits that are often mentioned are:

  • It’s easier to take the right action towards achieving goals
  • Find better jobs or career
  • Have more life satisfaction
  • Become more self-reliant
  • Reduce stress
  • Feel more self-empowerment
  • Take greater responsibility and accountability
  • Become more productive and effective in their goal achievements

(Source: Ken Blanchard Companies)

Through a class, external behavior may change for a while, but it needs to be supported by changes in their internal thought processes, which requires working with either a coach in a one-on-one coaching setting or group coaching.

The benefits of coaching are many: 80% of people who receive coaching report increased self-confidence, and over 70% benefit from improved work performance, relationships, and more effective communication skills. 86% of companies report that they recouped their investment on coaching and more (Source: ICF 2009). Now imagine what will happen when we can transfer these numbers to your weight loss and speed up the process between 70% and 86%. Even I as a coach of 3 decades was not aware that coaching has such a strong impact on people (I never did the math).

Since coaching brings companies such tremendous benefits despite the costs – getting me hired, paying for the hotel plus all the expenses for their staff, me, and my assistant cost a company $41,000 to $45,000 for one weekend workshop – we may want to reconsider the personal benefits of having a coach. No company would pay such an amount repeatedly if it was not worth every penny. Most of these business clients were men. In 10 years of doing business coaching, I’ve only had three women in total. On the other hand, in my weight loss workshops I had only 2 male participants among thousands of women in my entire career. So why is that? Not only men have a stress-laden life. Not only men need to earn their living. Not only men have to take care of their health and prevent weight gain. So how come that mostly men benefit from business coaching while almost only women thought that they needed to lose weight?

One reason is certainly that women are more modest in their professional and don’t see the necessity to spend money on their growth, and secondly, women are more used to doing it all by themselves, and getting support hardly comes into their minds. On top of that, women tend to being over-critical with themselves and are more willing to invest in their personal development. A large percentage of women – especially overweight women – have a deep feeling of not being deserving. Lastly, men think more in terms of ROI than women and are not afraid of spending money on their business success, while they are much less interested in spending money for their personal growth.

Now that we have been talking about the benefits of hiring a coach in general, let me share with you some health and weight loss benefits:

  • Lifestyle changes go beyond “eat less, move more”
  • It helps shed pounds
  • Helps dodge heart disease
  • Helps reduce stress significantly and increases the ability to cope with stress
  • Habit transformation
  • Lasting change of mindset
  • Increased self-confidence
  • Self-empowerment
  • Implementing a healthy lifestyle
  • Looking and feeling younger
  • Long-term weight loss
  • Improve the relationship with your body
  • Increased motivation throughout the entire weight loss process and beyond
  • Body, mind, and spirit relationship
  • Transformation of the causes of over-eating and poor habit
  • Improve the relationship with your body

So, when is it a good time to hire a weight loss coach?

The quick answer is, whenever you realize that you need or want to lose weight…the moment you realize that there is something you want to change.

Unfortunately, most women need a stronger motivation to allow them such an investment. Usually, women consult with me after they have tried about every diet and exercise program on the planet and realized that the result was rather a net gain than weight loss. They call me when they have reached the end of their rope and don’t have any more answers left or because their health insurance labeled them as “overweight” or even “obese” and raise their rates.

Basically, hiring a coach is most appreciated by women who…

  • …are busy and have no time to waste
  • …are goal and result-oriented and want to lose weight fast
  • …understand the real value of coaching
  • …are very busy and have no time to waste
  • …are willing to spend some money for faster results
  • …understand their own value
  • …understand their responsibility towards their own health
  • …are sick and tired of the trial and error approach

Generally, you can say that the sooner a woman hires a coach, the less coaching sessions she will need. The more trial and error and dieting you have gone through, the longer it will take. Going the cheap way is seldom the solution.

When considering hiring a coach, there are mainly two aspects to take into consideration:

  1. The time factor
  2. The investment factor

The faster you want to achieve your weight goal, the more it pays to invest a little bit more at the beginning because, at the end of the day, the whole weight loss process gets much cheaper than by going from diet to diet. Being overweight has never been a low-cost way of living anyway. Investing in the beginning can save you much money.

There is a good reason why the most successful people in the world attribute their success to their coaches and mentors. Hiring a coach can be one of the most effective ways of achieving your goals in life.
